The National Law Center for Inter-American Free Trade, in partnership with the Shanghai University of International Business and Economics (SUIBE) and the Universidad Mayor of Santiago, Chile is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Second Pacific-Rim Colloquium on Economic Development and the Harmonization of Commercial Law.  The Colloquium was the second of its kind, the first organized in Chile at the Universidad Mayor in October 2013, and occurred at the Shanghai University of International Business and Economics in Shanghai, China from January 8-10, 2015.  

In attendance were representatives of law schools and the public and private sectors from Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, the United States, South Korea and Vietnam. These individuals came together during this one-of-a-kind opportunity and engaged in the meaningful exchange of information and ideas on the creation of unified or harmonized legal institutions crucial to free and fair trade and investment on both sides of the Pacific Ocean. The Colloquium was the first step in the process of drafting uniform and harmonized law and compiling best practices in the five selected commercial law topics areas. For more information on the Colloquium, please visit the pages below.
