On Monday, October 15, 2018, NatLaw participated in the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law’s (UNIDROIT) consultation event on the scope of the future Mining, Agriculture and Construction (MAC) Protocol to the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment. The event was organized in partnership with La Fundación para la Investigación sobre el Derecho y la Empresa (FIDE) and was chaired by the UNIDROIT Secretary-General, Professor Ignacio Tirado. NatLaw’s Executive Director, Dr. Marek Dubovec, represented the MAC Working Group and delivered a presentation on the private sector perspective to the MAC Protocol, while Mr. William Brydie-Watson, a UNIDROIT Legal Officer, discussed the operation of the MAC Protocol and its potential economic benefits. Professor Teresa Rodríguez de las Heras Ballell also gave an update on Spain’s consideration of the MAC Protocol.
