On Jun 3, 2015 Natlaw was invited by the Mexican Ministry of Economy and the National Association of Warehouses in Mexico (Asociación de Almacenes Generales de Depósito) to participate in a seminar entitled “The Warehouse within the Scope of the Financial Reform” (El Almacén General de Depósito en el marco de la Reforma Financiera) that took place at the Bankers’ Club of Mexico, in Mexico City. The audience included finical institutions, warehousemen and warehouses’ in-house counsel as well as government officials from the Mexican Central Bank (FIRA), the Ministry of Agriculture and the Comisión Nacional Bancaria y de Valores. NatLaw’s presentation was entitled “The Electronic Certificate of Deposit in Mexico: Next Steps” and was imparted by NatLaw’s Executive Director Boris Kozolchyk and Research Attorney Adalberto Elias and focused on the advantages of a unitary electronic warehouse receipt system (when compared to the actual dual physical system in place in most Latin American countries) and the next steps for Mexico to implement such a system.
