COMPETITION POLICY

The Center is working on an Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) project: Strengthening of the Capacity to Implement Competition Policy in Mexico.

The objective of the project is to build capacity within the Federal Competition Commission of Mexico (FCC), sector regulatory agencies and the judicial branch to help improve the competitive climate in various economic sectors as a means to promote private investment. This objective will be achieved through activities seeking to: (i) strengthen competition policy in Mexico by enhancing knowledge within the FCC, among federal regulators and judicial bodies about competition legislation and its enforcement through a series of training sessions and a study tour; and (ii) provide recommendations to the FCC on mechanisms to improve case presentations, coordination with other agencies (in particular regulatory agencies), and human resource development. The Center is also collaborating with the United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) on this project.
