FEASIBILITY STUDY SECURITIZATION OF REAL ESTATE ASSETS, SONORA AND BAJA CALIFORNIA

( Versión en Español)

The National Law Center for Inter-American Free Trade is currently conducting a feasibility study for the securitization, in the U.S. secondary markets, of real estate assets located in the states of Sonora and Baja California, Mexico. This pilot program is funded by the United States Trade and Development Agency, an independent U.S. Government agency, funded by the U.S. Congress, and a part of the U.S. Government’s foreign assistance team. The Project entails the review of the current state and federal legal framework applicable to the real estate primary and secondary markets in these two states, a review of the Public Registries in selected locations, and a compilation, review and analysis of documentation and practices followed by key players in the real estate industry with a view to their possible standardization. The host entity for the Project is the Instituto Catastral y Registral del Estado de Sonora (ICRESON ). Upon proposal of the Executive Director of ICRESON , the Project has been included within the action items of the Arizona-Mexico Commission Task Force on Real Estate Practices, Investment & Development.

The following table reflects the status of the project and includes some of the related documents.
