Carmelu Cortez is the Controller at the National Law Center for Inter-American Free Trade (NatLaw), headquartered in Tucson, Arizona. As the controller of NatLaw she manages all aspects of the accounting functions including: purchasing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Ms. Cortez analyzes financial data and prepares budgets, financial reports as well as projections.
Prior to joining the NatLaw, Ms. Cortez for approximately 5 years was employed as a Senior Staff Accountant for a Certified Public Accounting firm in Tucson in which she performed consulting services for clients among various other duties. Among clients of varied industries she perform consulting services such as bookkeeping services, which include daily banking transactions such as, bank reconciliations, processing of accounts payable, processing accounts receivable, and payroll reports. In addition Ms Cortez, provided clients with recommendations to improve their financial and internal control processes.
Ms. Cortez has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona.
