Mr. Mike Dennis is a senior adviser to the National Law Center. He has served as an expert adviser to the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation forum (APEC) on commercial law reforms including at policy dialogues and workshops of the Economic Committee on secured transaction reform and online dispute resolution. He has also worked with the National Law Center in organizing conferences on private international law reform. Previously he was a senior attorney with the Office of Legal Adviser, U.S. Department of State. He led U.S. delegations to United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), Hague Conference, UNIDROIT, Organization of American States (OAS) and APEC, negotiating treaties and legislative instruments on arbitration, online dispute resolution (ODR), consumer protection, commercial fraud, electronic commerce, public procurement, secured transactions, intellectual property, leasing, contract law, choice of law and enforcement of judgements. As Executive Director of the Department of State Advisory Committee on Private International Law, he secured support for the Department’s private international law initiatives from the private sector, other agencies and U.S. states.
