Perla Amaya-Furquim is the Executive Assistant and Office Manager at the Kozolchyk National Law Center. She graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a triple concentration (Spanish, Portuguese & Spanish Literature) and studied a Master’s Degree in Spanish Literature, Language & Culture in the Hispanic World, in the Universidad de Alcalá de Henares, Madrid, Spain. She has also obtained certifications from the University of Arizona in Business, Legal and Medical Translation.

Prior to joining NatLaw, Ms. Amaya-Furquim worked in the fields of import/export for several years, dealing with clients from around the world in planning and developing internal processes for import flow to Mexico, as well as translating contracts. She also taught at the University of Arizona in the Spanish and Portuguese Department for a few years. Ms. Amaya-Furquim spent many years living abroad while studying for her MA, working in the fields of education, bilingualism, and biculturalism, and implementing and developing bilingual education programs in schools in Spain.

At NatLaw, Ms. Amaya-Furquim assists both the Executive Director and our Founder. She is responsible for the daily functioning of the Center. Ms. Amaya-Furquim also manages NatLaw’s RUG (security Interest) filing service, and provides English-Spanish translation services for NatLaw’s reports and publications.

Ms. Amaya-Furquim assists our Executive Director and Founder on daily organizational needs; she is responsible for the overall functioning of the Center, purchases, event planning, meetings, presentations and conferences. Ms. Amaya-Furquim also provides editorial services, proofreading Spanish and English documents produced by NatLaw. She has extensively cooperated in the translation and proofing of the second edition of the Comparative Commercial Contracts Hornbook into Spanish to be published in 2020, and also helped with the English second edition publication in 2018. Ms. Amaya-Furquim has co-translated and edited the draft of a MAC Protocol to the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment adopted in November 2019. She also translates legal documents for clients and is responsible for the filing of security interests in Mexico’s Registro Unico de Garantias Mobiliarias. In addition, she provided assistance to the accounting department in bookkeeping, bank reconciliations and utilities. She was appointed Board Secretary in February 2017.
